Why an engagement session?

I will keep the reasons I advocate engagement sessions to the brief and obvious; it is an opportunity for us to work together in a stress free environment, as a trail run before your wedding day. The advantages are numerous and we can discuss in more detail if you like.

How to prepare before your session:

I would suggest first that you should wear something that you are comfortable in and makes you feel confident and fantastic. By that, I don’t mean wearing the sweatpants you lounge around in while binging Netflix though. Don’t get so hung up on a look for the two of you that you lose site of what looks good on BOTH of you either.

Think about a lil grooming ahead of time, makeup, a fresh haircut and shave, etc. My job is that much easier when you both look your best. And let’s face it, making my job easier is what we all want! ;)

Have fun! A typical engagement shoot for me is two hours maximum. But that doesn’t mean it should start and end there. Make a day of it! Have lunch together beforehand, or do something special to you either before or after. This should never be a chore. I will make it fun, trust me, but making the day special to you overall will help a great deal.

Have an opinion.I totally understand that most people are not used to having their pictures taken. It can be nerve-wracking. I promise you that as the session progresses, you will feel more relaxed and begin to let go. However, thinking about what you want your engagement session to look like ahead of time will help a great deal. Let’s chat and collaborate so that everyone is delighted with the results!

Timing can help a great deal. It’s my job to make you look good no matter what the conditions. I will throw an off-camera flash on you for dramatic effect (one of my favorite things to do), or place you in the best light – cuz good light is magic. However, planning the shoot at sunset or sunrise gives us more options.

When in doubt, feel free to reach out to me with any questions you might have. We will have fun doing this, always.
